Speaking the Language of the Creative Law
Walk into any bookstore, and you will find countless guides telling you to look in the mirror and repeat positive phrases. “I am wealthy.” “I am fearless.” “I am successful.” Millions of people try this daily, yet they remain stuck in the exact same cycles of exhaustion and frustration.
The reason these standard affirmations fail is simple. They are spoken from a place of lack. They are desperate wishes disguised as statements.
In the practice of Simplicity, we understand that the universe does not operate on wishful thinking. It operates on mechanical laws. Positive affirmations are a highly effective, essential tool to achieve your goals and maintain positive results in your life. However, they only work when you understand the machinery behind them.
The Simplicity method of affirmation is heavily rooted in the New Thought movement, specifically drawing from the teachings of Ernest Holmes and the Science of Mind philosophy. Holmes developed a practice known as Spiritual Mind Treatment. This is not a petition to a distant, judgmental creator. It is a scientific, methodical process of directing the raw energy of the universe.
When you say an affirmation correctly, you are actively programming the Creative Law. You are stripping away the non-essential noise of the echoes of society and returning to the absolute stability of your core essence. To do this, you must learn how to speak the right language.
The Cardinal Rule: Never Empower the small self
Before you speak a single word of affirmation, you must understand where the voice in your head is coming from. The human experience is a negotiation between your True Nature, which is your indestructible, inherently peaceful essence, and the small self.
The small self is your constructed ego. It is built entirely out of past traumas, cultural conditioning, and fear. It is obsessed with survival and thrives on division.
The small self is a negative in Simplicity, and it should never be focused on in your affirmations.
This is the most common mistake people make. When someone affirms, “I will conquer my crippling anxiety,” or “I am no longer going to be broke,” they think they are being positive. In reality, they are centering the affirmation entirely around the fears of the small self. By focusing on the anxiety or the poverty, they are feeding that exact frequency into the Creative Law. The universe, which is entirely neutral, simply reflects that focus back to them, manifesting more of the same struggle.
An effective affirmation completely bypasses the small self. It speaks exclusively from the perspective of the True Nature. The True Nature does not need to fight anxiety because it is inherently peaceful. It does not need to escape poverty because it is connected to the infinite abundance of Spirit.
You do not affirm what you are trying to escape. You affirm the objective truth of what you already are.
The Five Steps of a Simplicity Affirmation
Drawing from the Science of Mind concept of Spiritual Mind Treatment, a true Simplicity affirmation follows a specific, five-step mechanical structure. It moves your consciousness from the physical static of your daily life into direct communion with Spirit, the First Matter.
1. Recognition
You cannot direct energy if you do not acknowledge its existence. The first step of any powerful affirmation is recognizing the fundamental truth of the universe. There is only one source of energy, one Spirit, and it is infinite, indestructible, and entirely peaceful. You begin by stating that this energy is the only true reality, shifting your focus away from the illusions of your current problems.
2. Unification
Once you recognize Spirit, you must claim your relationship to it. You are not separate from the creator; you are created from it. You are the Universe itself. This step is about acknowledging your connection to infinity. It is the conscious realization that the exact same energy powering the cosmos is currently beating your heart. You declare that your True Nature is a localized, perfect expression of the universal Spirit.
3. Realization
This is the core of the affirmation. Now that you are speaking from your True Nature, you state your desired reality as a current, objective fact. You do not use the future tense. The Creative Law only operates in the Now. If you say, “I will be healthy,” you are infected with Terminal Urgency, pushing the result into a future that never arrives. Instead, you state, “I am the embodiment of vital, thriving health.” You speak with absolute authority, completely ignoring the protests of the small self.
4. Giving Thanks
Gratitude is the required frequency for manifestation. It is the focused awareness of abundance. By giving thanks for the realization before you even see the physical results, you lock the new frequency into place. You are telling the Creative Law that the work is already done. This specific input of Gratitude is what triggers Kismet, prompting the external world to effortlessly organize itself to match your new internal state.
5. Release
The final step is the hardest for the ego to accept. You must completely let go. If you obsess over how or when your affirmation will come true, you are slipping back into the control mechanisms of the small self. You must apply Liberation. You release the words into the Creative Law with total trust, “burning the files” of your doubt, and stepping cleanly back into the present moment.
How to Create Your Own Effective Affirmation
While the philosophy runs deep, the daily practice is incredibly straightforward. Here are the exact instructions to craft a relevant, highly effective affirmation for whatever you are facing today.
Step One: Identify the desired outcome. Determine exactly what you are trying to manifest or experience. Perhaps you need financial stability, physical healing, or peace during a chaotic family situation.
Step Two: Remove the small self entirely.
Look at your desire and strip away the fear, the lack, and the history. If your goal is to stop arguing with your spouse, do not write an affirmation about “stopping the fighting.” Translate it into the language of the True Nature. The goal becomes “experiencing profound harmony and understanding.”
Step Three: Write it in the absolute present.
Formulate your statement as if it is happening right this very second. Begin with powerful, declarative openings like “I am,” “I now accept,” or “I know that.” The Simplicity mantra of “I am Here. I am Peace,” is a perfect example of staying in the absolute present and one that I recommend people use as often as they can. Let it be a reminder of what staying in the present looks like.
Step Four: Ensure it feels true to your essence.
Read the words aloud. If they make your chest feel tight, you are likely still writing from a place of fear or using words that trigger your emotional debt. If the words bring a sense of quiet relief and stability, you have successfully tapped into your connection to Spirit.
Example of a poor affirmation: “I hope I get this new job so I am not stressed about money anymore.” (Focuses on lack, uses the future tense, empowers the small self).
Example of a Simplicity affirmation: “I am intimately connected to the infinite abundance of the First Matter. I now step into my right livelihood with total peace, knowing my True Nature is fully supported.”
The Power of the Closing Intent
At the end of every affirmation I write, I always conclude with the phrase, “And so it is.” This specific phrase is a traditional practice drawn from Religious Science and the teachings of Ernest Holmes. It is not just a polite sign-off. It is a verbal gavel striking a sound block. Saying “And so it is” represents total Liberation. It is the definitive declaration that the treatment is complete, the Creative Law has received the instruction, and the matter is settled. It prevents you from second-guessing your own words.
I am most comfortable using this specific phrase because of my background, but the exact words are not what matter. The mechanics are what matter. If saying “Amen” resonates more deeply with your personal history, use it. If saying “It is done” or “So be it” feels more authoritative to you, use those instead. Choose whatever word or phrase perfectly symbolizes intentionality and finality for you. The goal is simply to close the circuit and let the universe do its work.
You do not have to build these entirely from scratch every morning. To help you maintain your daily practice and keep your connection to the True Nature strong, I post daily affirmations on our official Facebook page and right here on the website. You can read these every morning to set your resonance for the day, or use them as templates to help you construct your own deeply personal statements.
Uncomplicating your life takes rigorous discipline, but the mechanics never fail. Speak from your essence, ignore the shadow of your past, and watch the world reshape itself around you.
