Discovering Your Unshakeable Center

Path 1: Anchoring

Welcome to the journey of Simplicity.

If you are reading this, you likely feel the weight of the modern world. It demands our attention, pulls us in a thousand directions, and often leaves us feeling adrift.

I want to be clear right from the start: I did not invent the concept of peace, nor did I discover the spiritual laws that govern it. Simplicity is a practical system based on the timeless wisdom of history’s biggest titans in spiritual matters, like the Buddha and Jesus, combined with the Science of Mind philosophy of Ernest Holmes. My goal isn’t to teach you a new truth, but to give you a usable toolkit to live the truth you already know.

Our journey begins with the most fundamental act of all: Anchoring. This is Path 1 of Simplicity, and it is the bedrock upon which all other transformation rests.

What Does it Mean to Be “Anchored”?

Imagine a magnificent ship caught in a storm. The waves crash, the winds howl, and the vessel is tossed relentlessly. Without an anchor, it is at the mercy of the chaos.

Now, imagine that same ship with a powerful, well-set anchor. It may still feel the force of the waves, but it holds its position. It remains steadfast.

In Simplicity, you are that ship. The storm is what Holmes called “Race Consciousness” – the collective panic and confusion of the world. The anchor is your ability to consciously root yourself in the Now.

Anchoring is the spiritual practice of bringing your full awareness to the present moment, recognizing that your true power and your True Nature reside exclusively in the Now.

The Problem: The Drift of Ignorance

Most of us live our lives un-anchored. In Simplicity, we call this “The Drift of Ignorance.” This isn’t an insult to your intelligence; it simply means we are ignoring our connection to Spirit.

We tend to live in two places that do not exist: the past, in which we replay old conversations, regret decisions, and hold onto emotional debt, and the future, in which we worry about outcomes and suffer from Terminal Urgency- the anxiety that we are running out of time.

This mental time-travel fragments our energy. The Creative Law, the universe’s impartial mechanism for manifesting our thoughts, receives a fragmented signal from us. Consequently, it reflects a fragmented reality back into our lives as Kismet.

When our minds are scattered in the chaos of conditions, we lose touch with the spirit.

The Solution

How do we stop the drift? We use a tool called the Intentional Pause.

In our un-anchored state, there is no space between a stimulus and our reaction. A bill arrives, and we immediately feel panic. The reaction is automatic.

The Intentional Pause creates a sacred gap. It is the conscious decision to:

  1. Stop: Whatever you are doing, just pause.
  2. Breathe: Take a deep, conscious breath. This brings you back to the physical reality of the moment.
  3. Notice: Holmes taught that the Divine is in everything. So, look around. What do you see? What do you hear?

This pause disrupts the automatic cycle of Ignorance. It reclaims your attention from the past or future and brings it squarely into the Now.

Anchoring Your True Nature

Anchoring is more than just a technique; it is an affirmation of your True Nature.

When you consistently Anchor yourself, you begin to experience a profound shift:

  • You Reclaim Your Power: You realize that you are not a victim of circumstances. You are a conscious agent.
  • You Cultivate an Unshakeable Center: Even when challenges arise, you have a core of stillness within you that cannot be disturbed.
  • You Live in Simplicity: The mental clutter dissolves, leaving space for clarity and effortless being.

Practical Steps to Begin Anchoring

You don’t need a special place or a quiet environment to do this. You can Anchor in the middle of a noisy street or during a difficult conversation.

  1. Conscious Breathing: Set a mental reminder. When you feel stress rising, stop for three deep breaths. This is a micro-anchor.
  2. Sensory Awareness: When performing a routine task- washing dishes, walking the dog- bring your full attention to your senses. Feel the water. Hear the birds. Be present.
  3. The Affirmation: When you feel yourself drifting into anxiety, use this simple statement to re-center: “I am Here. I am Peace.”

Anchoring is the first, essential step toward living a life of Simplicity. It is the daily commitment to return to the Now and discover the peace that has always been your birthright.

Begin today. Take an Intentional Pause. Anchor yourself.
